Our Trustees
At People to Places, our Board of Trustees plays a vital role in guiding the charity’s work to deliver independence and tackle isolation for residents across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Their collective expertise, dedication, and oversight ensure our services remain effective, ethical, and financially sustainable.
What Our Trustees Do
Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of People to Places. Working closely with our management team, they help shape the future of the organisation while ensuring that everything we do aligns with our mission of providing accessible transport for those with mobility challenges.
Key responsibilities of our trustees include:
- Providing strategic oversight and input into the long-term direction of the charity
- Monitoring our financial health and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Supporting and challenging the management team to achieve our objectives
- Helping ensure our resources are used effectively to maximise benefit to the community
- Acting as ambassadors for the organisation within the community and professional networks
Our Board
Our trustees bring with them a broad range of skills and experience from sectors including health and social care, finance, marketing, human resources, law, accessibility, and the voluntary sector. This diverse mix enables the Board to provide well-rounded and informed guidance to the charity.
Supporting Our Mission
Our trustees are united by a shared commitment to supporting people with mobility issues to live more independent, connected lives. Their work is instrumental in helping People to Places reach more individuals and provide services that truly make a difference.
If you’re interested in learning more about our trustees or the work they do, please get in touch — we’re always happy to share more about the people helping to lead our charity forward.
“Being a trustee in my local community allows me to contribute to how we can reduce people’s loneliness through helping them be more mobile and retain their independence.
It also gives me the opportunity to work with others who are also committed to improving people’s lives.”

Giles Ballard
Trustee
Giles joined People to Places as a volunteer driver in October 2022 and then becomes a Trustee in December in the same year. Currently, he holds the position of Senior Director for an American Technology company and has been with them for over 25 years, managing sales and the European HQ in Bracknell.
He has lived in Maidenhead for over 30 years and is married with 2 children.
In his spare time, Giles enjoys playing squash, watching and playing football, cycling, eating out, and going to the cinema.

Jane Basley
Chair of Trustees
After a long career in corporate HR Jane changed career paths to become a movement specialist and set up a new business, Bodymanoeuvres.
The goal of Bodymanoeuvres is to get people to move more as they get older – it provides a huge boost to helping people retain their independence as well as helping their mental wellbeing.
Jane has always had a goal of remaining active, however it was seeing her parent’s health decline through not moving enough that made her realise just how important it is that we all keep active.
So when Jane was introduced to People To Places through her local business network, and learnt that they were looking for additional trustees, it made complete sense to be able to offer time and support for a cause that is at the heart of what she does. If it is possible to keep people independent, in whatever way they are able then it is possible to reduce loneliness and isolation too.
In her spare time Jane enjoys walking her two Labradors, meeting friends, watching TV crime dramas and reading as widely as possible to understand the progress we are making in caring for people as they become older.

Helen Berg
Trustee & Treasurer
Helen has a great range of expertise, specialising in finance and governance. Helen qualified as a chartered accountant and was a partner in a major firm of accountants, specialising in tax, and specifically for the not for profit sector including social housing.
Since retiring, Helen has undertaken several trustee and non executive board roles. She joined People to Places as a Trustee in November 2018 where her expertise has been invaluable to the organisation.
Helen’s husband also works in the charitable sector as a director of finance.
Helen enjoys travelling, music and theatre, reading, cricket and rugby.

Adrian Greensmith
Trustee
Adrian relocated to the Royal Borough in the early 2000s due to work commitments in IT.
With a strong commitment to community service running in his family, he quickly began volunteering at a Windsor-based charity for people with learning difficulties upon settling. He served as chair for five years, overseeing the sale of their land to a property developer and the subsequent construction of a new facility.
At this charity, Adrian met Romola, another volunteer, and they married in 2013. Sharing a keen interest in entrepreneurship, they left their IT jobs and founded Great Park Homecare in 2015.
They take great pleasure in providing support to families during some of their most challenging times, finding the project immensely rewarding.
After his tenure with the Windsor-based charity concluded, Adrian was eager to find a new opportunity. Knowing the CEO, Peter, as well as the chair of the Trustees, Jane, made it a natural progression for him to engage with People to Places, a valuable community resource he is delighted to be involved with in its ongoing development.

Clive Lewis
Trustee & Volunteer Driver
Clive started his career as a Management Accountant and held senior financial management positions before moving into Management Consultancy where he specialised in performance improvement projects in a wide variety of sectors. In 1996 Clive founded, with his wife, a Management & Skills Training business which he ran until 2020.
Clive is now largely retired although he retains an ongoing involvement in a company in Canada and works on a voluntary basis as a Consultant and Mentor.
Clive has lived in Windsor for 40 years and joined People to Places as a volunteer driver in 2023.
In his spare time Clive plays golf, cycles, walk, travels extensively and watches rugby.

Scott Macrae
Trustee
Scott worked in electronics and more specifically semiconductors before starting his local home care agency, Right at Home Maidenhead.
He is very proud that it is rated Outstanding by the CQC and hopes that some of the skills he has learnt in homecare in combating loneliness for clients with mobility challenges can be transferred to help People to Places.
Specifically he has skills in fundraising, compliance, marketing and training which he hopes can enable People to Places to continue to be strong now and in the future and be able to deliver services in the local community in the long term.
Scott in his spare time enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, cycling and supporting Chelsea FC.

Graham Pedersen
Trustee
Graham is a life-long resident of Maidenhead. He is semi-retired after a 40-year career in domestic and international banking and asset finance with last 28 years spent in banking supervision with the Bank of England and Financial Services Authority.
Since 2015 Graham has been a Non-Executive Director of a quoted finance group and latterly Chairman of its Audit Committee.
Throughout his career Graham has also spent 8 years as a Non-Executive Director of East Berkshire NHS Trust – also chairing the Audit Committee, been a Cox Green Parish Councillor, served as an Independent Member of the RBWM now defunct Standards Committee and been involved in local health issues and a supporter of Thames Valley Adventure Playground.
