It was Trotting into Summer


We were delighted to be back at the Royal Windsor Horse Show this year!

The event ran from Thursday 1st– Sunday 4th July. This was the first event that People to Places has supported since the first lockdown and we were happy to be back. People to Places supplied some of our mobility scooters to enable visitors with mobility issues to enjoy all that the event had to offer. Our staff and volunteers facilitated scooter hire every day, come rain or shine, to make sure everything ran smoothly.  We have to say a huge thank you also to Knights Van hire who helped us transport all of our mobility scooters to the event.

The History behind the event!

Royal Windsor Horse Show was first staged in 1943. It was to help raise funds for the ‘Wings for Victory’ campaign to support the war effort. Although it started as a horse and dog show, apparently dogs have been banned since 1944 after the committee was so embarrassed after a rogue lurcher pinched a piece of chicken from King George VI’s plate! It has continued to run every year since and is now the only show in the UK to host international competitions in Show Jumping, Dressage, Driving and Endurance. it celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2018.


We will all navigate life in different ways during the pandemic and People to Places want to assure our service users that we are dedicated to your welfare. We have not stopped supporting our members throughout this last year and a half. People to Places have followed the government guidelines at every step. We’ve created and enforced our own cleaning regimes and have comprehensive measures in place to ensure user and staff safety. People to Places will be continuing to operate with these measures in place for the foreseeable future. We want to make sure that all members feel safe and secure using our services.


Looking forward

We hope that all our members are looking forward to summer and getting out into the sunshine (fingers crossed!). We are happy to announce we have a new season of trips set up for the rest of the year. To find out more or to sign up, check out our Trips page on our website. We have also extended our Shopmobility opening hours at our Windsor office next to Alexandra Gardens. You can now hire our mobility scooters 7 days a week, 10 am to 5 pm. This will allow members and visitors to enjoy the sights of Windsor for a full day. Our Maidenhead Shopmobility office will continue to support our members and visitors Monday to Saturday. Our Dial-A-Ride service is available to all members who need accessible transport. This could be to appointments, meet-ups with friends and family, or into town for the weekly shop.
