People to Places Frequently Asked Questions Sheet
1. Will the driver carry my shopping to the door?
Our friendly drivers will be happy to assist you with a reasonable amount of shopping.
2. Why is this change happening?
The Council has decided to change from the cash payment to a voucher system because it wants to be sure that all the public money that goes into the scheme is used for the purpose for which it is intended.
3. Can I make a regular weekly trip booked in advance?
Yes, we very much welcome advance regular bookings.
4. What are the advantages to the users?
All our drivers have enhanced CRB checks, are thoroughly trained and have experience at providing comprehensive assistance whatever you need. We recently asked our members about our service and the results were overwhelmingly positive.
5. I am worried that I will be driven around the countryside picking up other passengers.
It is rarely necessary for our buses to carry more than two passengers – we understand that people don’t want to have unnecessarily long journeys.
6. Can I combine the 2 mile vouchers for longer trips?
Yes, we just ask that you let us know if you intend to save them up for a very long journey.
7. Is the service punctual?
Yes, we have a very good track record with punctuality, again our members agreed in the survey
8. Can I bring a carer, family member or assistance dog with me?
Yes, you are welcome to bring a carer, family member or assistance dog with you free of charge.
9. What do I do if I don’t know how long my doctor’s or hospital appointment will last?
We always allow extra time in case doctor’s and hospital appointments run late, and our office staff will coordinate with the surgery or hospital to get the best idea of timings.
10. What if I need to cancel my journey at the last minute?
Although we expect notice of cancellations we do understand that sometimes unavoidable circumstances can require last minute cancellation, a charge of a voucher may be levied if someone cancels frequently without due reason.
11. What happens if I miss my pick up time and don’t own a mobile phone?
The driver will contact the office, who will contact your emergency contacts to assist in finding you. Also we’ll work with you to establish strategies so problems like this are avoided where possible. Local shops have often helped out by ringing us on a client’s behalf.
