People on the Move Project (PoMP) (Volunteering for the over 50's) Please see our PoMP Page for more details.

People to Places is starting a new project called PoMP. It is funded by the European Social Fund and the Learning and Skills Council. PoMP is a programme aimed at people aged 50+  who, although active, are retired or  unemployed but looking to fill their time positively and are local to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS)

MiDAS is the national minibus driving safety standards; we've recently had two people trained to be MiDAS trainers and People to Places are committed to becoming fully MiDAS compliant by July 2010.  This means that by this date, all of the drivers who use our vehicles, must have passed the MiDAS standard.  For the first tranche of training, we've been funded by Berkshire Community Foundation to train drivers, so it is free to our existing staff, volunteers and group drivers.  We've estimated that about 50 people need to be trained!  Training consists of a day's theory work and a couple of hours assessment, on a separate day and will cover minibus driving, wheelchair clamping and tail-lift operation.  To start the training programme, the following dates are available:-

More dates will be arranged later in the year.  Although Theory and Assessment sessions have been paired, in fact you don't have to do the assessment session directly after the theory, if the date isn't convenient, however, the theory has to be attended before the assessment can be attempted.

All training will be held at the People to Places offices, timings are Theory start at 9am and finish at 4pm Assessment are 1 hour long at a mutually convenient time.  Please confirm which dates you are able to attend to the following email address:  midas@people2places.org.uk  If you have any queries, then please don't hesitate to contact me Peter Haley on 01628 587924
