Most people today have the use of, or access to, a vehicle to enable
them to visit friends, get to work or access services.
Everyone depends on reliable, safe and accessible transport but if this
isn’t readily available people can become isolated and lonelyIt’s
a hidden issue:
the number of people with a limiting long term illness across
the Royal Borough in 2001 was 16,803 people, of which 6,584 were of working age.
And
it’s getting worse:
it’s projected that by 2025 there will be an 80% increase in
people over 85.
What
is People to Places?
We are a local charity, based in the Royal Borough of Windsor and
Maidenhead providing specialist accessible transport for people
with disabilities and mobility problems.
Our main aim is “... to provide a community transport service for
the inhabitants of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead who are in
need of such a service because of age, sickness or disability.”
How does People to Places help?
We operate a fleet of 11 vehicles, all of which have tail lift facilities,
driven by a team of drivers, volunteers and community group users co-ordinated
by a small office team based in Maidenhead.
In 2008/09, People to Places
provided over 40,700 passenger journeys.
